PARENT EDUCATION
PROGRAMS: (click on titles for more info)
- Caring Families
- This is a parenting and personal development program. Parents and their children (birth - 6 years old) attend the program together.
Parenting can be very stressful. The Caring Families program embraces the belief that each parent and child has strengths. They can use these strengths to build healthy families. The program provides families with opportunities to learn new skills as well as build on skills they have already. All of this happens in a safe and supportive environment.
Caring Families is a 12 week program. Families attend the program 2 full days each week (9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) Lunch and snack are provided.
Parents and children spend part of the day doing activities in the playrooms together. Parents use this time to bond with their children and observe their development. Parents also have opportunities to practice their new skills with their children. Staff members can provide support to families as needed.
Parents also spend part of the day in a group. These group times are just for the parents. Staff members care for the children while the parents are in their group. Parents spend these times doing different learning activities together.
There is a little bit of personal time during the day too. Parents can use this time in different ways. They can have some one-on-one time with a staff member to discuss any parenting concerns, borrow items from the Parent Resource Library, use the time to relax or visit with other parents.
